Marius Budăi, the Minister of Labor, announced a series of very important measures for millions of Romanians, they have already been adopted during a government meeting, and one of them directly targets the effects on Romanian employees that the war in Ukraine has.
Marius Budăi talks below about an emergency ordinance by which certain employees will benefit from technical unemployment amounting to 75% of the equivalent of the monthly salary, if they work for a company whose activity was affected by the war in Ukraine.
"We support, as the government, any measure to sanction Russia, but we support at the same time that no Romanian citizen should suffer, and with this idea in mind we came up with a government ordinance today by which we regulated that those employees of those commercial companies that will suffer because of the sanctions, but also those on the supply line, to benefit from that technical unemployment, namely 75% of the equivalent of the salary, but not more than the average salary in the economy.
Another extremely important measure and a measure that I care a lot about, because I am a long-time worker in Social Assistance, is the National Strategy regarding the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, a strategy entitled by us, the Ministry of Labor, "A fair Romania 2022-2027 ".
Also, an operational plan to implement this strategy. The strategy and the plan basically aim at stimulating the active participation of people with disabilities in the labor market, but also their full participation in making decisions that concern them.
I am convinced that if we stick to this strategy until 2027, we will then be able to clearly talk about a strategy for people with disabilities and "A fair Romania" - as we generically titled this program, this strategy. Also today, in the government meeting, the Executive approved a draft decision, a more technical draft decision.
I will tell you only a few details. Namely, the normative act clarifies provisions with the aim of increasing performance, increasing the quality of the professional training system. You all know that in the last year, in the last years in fact, because of the pandemic, but also now because of the war, the labor market suffered a lot and many changes took place on the labor market. We have made some technical clarifications which, we say, will bring many benefits to the continuous professional training of adults."
