Minister of Defense: Official Confirmation of Extensive Changes in the Romanian Army

The Minister of Defense Official Confirmation of the Extensive Changes in the Romanian Army

The Minister of Defense speaks again to the Romanians from all over the country about the profound changes that are being made throughout Romania during this period, and according to the message below, he reconfirms the fact that the Romanian Army will go through the most extensive modernization program until present.

The Minister of Defense says that it will provide for a long time the modern combat technique it needs, especially in the context of the war in Ukraine, which instead of ending as soon as possible, seems to be entering a phase of development for a long period.

"The Romanian army is currently carrying out an extensive modernization program, which will provide it, for a long time, with the modern combat technology and technique it needs in terms of the security challenges that are manifesting in our region. Starting next year, the increased level of budget allocation will allow the acceleration of the most important procurement programs.

The changes in recent years on the world market of defense equipment highlight the need for states to adopt a common way of thinking and working together in order to improve the efficiency of activities carried out in the field of industrial cooperation, which is an important component of diplomatic activities.

Just yesterday, in Brussels, at the meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council in the format of defense ministers from the EU member states, we decided on joint purchases, new financial facilities from the EU so that the level of endowment in the #EU countries increases rapidly and sustainably in the coming years. Industrial cooperation can take various forms, but in all cases it must be based on the desire to collaborate and bilateral agreements, so I believe that events of the nature of BSDA have a special role in generating them.

That is why I am very glad that the participation in this edition is significant and I am convinced that this event will facilitate an analysis of how technology, expertise, know-how and research and development in the military field could be used more effectively to mutual advantage.

And because we are talking about the international community, it is important to remember here also the solidarity that Romania, together with all NATO allies, the countries of the European Union and the democratic countries of the world, shows with the brave people of Ukraine. The importance of unity and cohesion within the North Atlantic Alliance is now more than ever essential, and I welcomed the recent measures adopted at Alliance level to strengthen the deterrence and defense posture across NATO's eastern flank.
