Sorin Cimpeanu: Last Minute Statement, What Kind of Classes Are Forming in Schools

Sorin Cimpeanu Last Moment Declaration New Classes Form Schools

Sorin Cimpeanu announces a first for education in Romania, and this is because in the new education laws it was decided to take extremely important measures that will facilitate the creation of excellence classes in national colleges to support the performance of students.

Sorin Cimpeanu explains below what was behind the decision, but also how the Romanian state is trying to help national colleges to form these excellent classes, plus how high schools are offered the opportunity to also be part of pilot programs to raise their level quality of the educational act.

"We want to have units of excellence in state pre-university education. We want this to be possible in Romanian state schools, not only in a high school like the international high school. That is precisely why these national colleges that aspire to the status of excellence already have the legal framework through the new law to organize excellence classes, to support performance.

They already have the right to call for the batch, batch for the training of Olympians in chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics. Until now, there was no legal framework to provide such access to performance, now through this bill there is a legal framework to support the excellence demonstrated by students from the international high school.

The legal framework did not allow the national colleges to organize their excellence classes. Now it allows, but be careful, it is about national colleges that meet at least 6 quality criteria. Among these quality criteria is also the pass rate in the national exams. We must admit that in these colleges the passing rate is 98% - 99%.

We cannot put the equal sign between a high school in which we have no graduates, and a national college in which we have a 100% graduation rate. They still have the right to participate as pilot units in order to raise their quality level in the educational process of any kind of schools. We expanded, we started last year with 6 pilot schools, with only one national college.

The rest were not national colleges, they gained increased autonomy. We have now expanded this legal framework to allow, and have already launched a call for 60 pilot schools. From 6 to 60 pilot schools that have the chance to demonstrate their excellence, or support, through increased autonomy and increased financial support."
