Russia Bombed the Largest Nuclear Power Plant in Europe

Russia has bombed the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, according to information from the national agency for nuclear energy in Ukraine, the Russians launched shells at one of the power lines within the plant to force the shutdown of the supply of electricity to other areas of the country, possibly and to the European Union.

Russia started taking over part of the electricity production there a few months ago, after occupying the nuclear power plant, but now it has become much more aggressive in its actions, probably also because Ukraine has started selling electricity to the European Union to support its defense efforts in the war.

"Russia is bombing the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant to 'disconnect it from Ukraine's energy system.' After Russia's attacks near the plant, Ukraine's state nuclear power company said Russia wanted to "destroy the station's infrastructure and damage power transmission."

"The bombardment of the plant is therefore likely to continue," Energoatom said. Earlier, the company reported that there was a "serious risk" to the safe operation of the plant due to Russian bombing on August 5."
