Romania remains affected by the Corona virus pandemic during this period, and this is due to the constantly high number of new cases that are registered in our country, the situation still remains worrying for the authorities throughout the country, but also the Romanians who are trying to protect themselves against a possible infections.

The coronavirus is still generating thousands of new cases of infection in Romania, with increasing incidence rates at the national level, at the moment the average for the whole country is over 4/1000 inhabitants, a sign that the community transmission of the virus is still raised, something that continues to generate concern.

The coronavirus continues to spread strongly due to the fact that there are no measures to prevent the spread, and the Omicron strain is very contagious, so the infection is extremely easy among people, which is very clearly the basis of what is happening in the present moment.

"In the last 24 hours, 5.710 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, with 759 less than the previous day. 1.040 of the new cases in 24 hours are of reinfected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the first infection.

Distinct from the newly confirmed cases, following retesting of patients who were already positive, 308 people were reconfirmed positive.

In specialized health units, the number of people hospitalized in wards with COVID-19 is 3.815, 97 less than the previous day. Also, 293 people are hospitalized at ATI, 4 less than the previous day. Of the 293 patients admitted to ATI, 252 are unvaccinated.

Of the total hospitalized patients, 479 are minors, 476 being hospitalized in wards, with 35 less than the previous day and 3 in ATI, the same as the previous day.

Until today, 66.311 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

Between 11.08.2022 (10:00) and 12.08.2022 (10:00) 20 deaths (10 men and 10 women) were reported by the INSP, with no deaths reported before the reference interval.

In the last 24 hours, 4.006 RT-PCR tests were performed (2.588 based on case definition and medical protocol and 1.418 on request) and 17.780 rapid antigen tests. Until this date, at the national level, they have been processed
