The WHO is putting everyone on alert at the moment with a worrying official announcement that aims to bring to the world's attention one of the most serious and dangerous problems that should not be ignored by anyone, and this is because we are talking about problems health problems generated by Long COVID for millions of people.
The WHO draws attention to the fact that among the hundreds of millions of people who have been infected so far by the Coronavirus, there are tens of millions of people who suffer from Long COVID, an extremely serious condition that prolongs some of the symptoms of the infection and after the virus has theoretically "exited" from the infected person's body.
The WHO says that any of the countries that are thinking about ending the Coronavirus pandemic, should think very seriously and take into account the fact that they have to take long-term care of people suffering from Long COVID, and this will put additional pressure on the health systems which anyway have problems in dealing with what is happening now.
The WHO continues to ask for closer surveillance of the evolution of the Coronavirus pandemic to ensure that we will not soon see new strong waves of infections in various areas of the globe, but no one can offer certainty regarding the fact that humanity is safe in the face of the serious evolution of the pandemic.
