The Minister of Health explains below the fact that public hospitals are fundamental for a health system that functions correctly in Romania, and that major investments and further allocated funds are needed for the development of public hospitals, but the private sector can also support their evolution .
"At the moment, I do not have the legal leverage to prevent a doctor from exercising his profession in the private system after the end of the work schedule in the public system. There can be no overlap between the two, that is, I have a schedule until 3:00 and I have private consultations from 12:00. The second element, which actually confirms what I said in September, we must be very careful regarding the patient's circuit.
This has nothing to do with preventing the doctor from working both ways, provided that there is a commitment - maybe even written in which he respects the public schedule and makes a commitment that he will never redirect a patient from the hospital where he works to another private hospital, where he may work or an acquaintance of his works.
I want to say one more thing, which I think is very important, and I think it should represent the philosophy of the Romanian health system. I've been to Israel, it's exactly the same, I've also been to France, it's exactly the same, public health institutions, public hospitals, are the basic institutions, because in any serious situation, crisis, they respond to the need for services health.
