Austria: Romania FORGOTTEN in the EU Leaders' LAST MINUTE Decisions for Schengen

Austria Romania FORGOTTEN EU Leaders' LAST MINUTE Schengen Decisions

Austria managed to make Romania forgotten in the last-minute decisions that the leaders of the European Union take for Schengen during this period, and this is because tomorrow there is a meeting of the JAI Council in Luxembourg, and the focus is on reforming the asylum system in EU, with important requests made by Manfred Weber.

Austria managed to shift attention from the veto given to Romania's accession to Schengen, to the reform of the asylum system, Weber stating that if the EU states do not decide to do it, and to reform the rules for the repatriation of migrants, it would be a breach of duty towards the citizens of the European Union, the warning being a very serious one.

Austria has found allies in many European countries to impose its objectives regarding the reform of the asylum system to reduce migration, Germany being a supporter of the procedures for analyzing asylum applications at the borders of the European Union, and the accession of Romania in Schengen was forgotten in the last months, despite the insistence of the leaders from Bucharest.

"At the meeting of EU interior ministers on Thursday, member states should agree on a common position in order to start negotiations on the reform of the Dublin rules and asylum procedures. Failure to do so would be a breach of duty to our citizens.

Smugglers are encouraged to target families and young people because they have a de facto guarantee that they will be able to stay in Europe. This would not protect young people, but rather put them at greater risk. Months ago, many tried to reach southern Italy from North Africa via the Mediterranean."
