The Romanian Police is buying software to extract data from phones

The Romanian Police is going to invest no less than 1.7 million lei in software designed to allow the extraction of data from mobile phones and other IT devices. According to the tender initiated by the Romanian Police, it wants 38 software applications that will allow it to carry out computer searches and 38 portable forensic computer systems.

This software should be able to extract data from iPhone, Samsung, ASUS, Blackberry, Huawei, Lenovo, LG, Nokia, Philips, Motorola, etc. terminals. Regardless of the protection measures that these terminals have, the software should be able to break them to extract SMS messages, contact book, call list, pictures, movies, list of applications, information on visited locations and many others.

The Romanian Police wants to buy a software that can hack no less than 8700 types of mobile phones, and among them will be many iPhone and iPad models. Except for the iPhone 7, almost all the others running iOS 10 can most likely be jailbroken by security companies, especially since there is also a public jailbreak for them.

Moreover, the software should be able to remove the security codes set in the phones, this being a big problem in the case of the iPhone. We know from last year that the FBI paid a lot of money to decode an iPhone, and the Romanian Police wants to use the same money to buy software to decode many other models of mobile phones.

The 1.7 million lei that the Romanian Police allocated for this purchase will probably not cover the amount needed to buy something of quality, but we will see more if someone offers to honor the auction.

  1. And what kind of software does the police want?

Then there is no more freedom and privacy as long as the police have access to your private environment.
Interesting, little by little we will be fully supervised.

  2. The freedom of private data cannot be a reason for committing crimes. When you committed a crime, you compromised your freedom and privacy.

  3. I sell them something to crack all brands of phones including iphone7, I guarantee 100% for iphone8 as well, and only for half of what they offer, right now I'm going to engrave "software" on the handle

  4. Apart from iPhone 7, the rest are almost all jailbreakable that have iOS 10. Why iPhone 7 which has the same fate as 6s can't be jailbroken and 6s is jailbroken? I'm curious what the explanation for that phrase is. Or is it some kind of "fill up your apple accounts by buying iPhone 7 to save you from software"? It seems like disguised advertising to me, no offense.

  5. Guys, after they listen to us when they want and we are monitored by all kinds of suspended cameras at any minute, I don't understand why they don't install devices directly in our homes, so at BigBrother...?

  6. :)))) Mom, how much have you extrapolated. iPhone 7 has a different processor, improved software for it and other components, that's why it's harder to break, like any other new product.

  7. @ionel: keep calm, isn't the Romanian militia doing this?. There are other "departments", sometimes also private ones (hired to work under the aforementioned title)...

  8. Sorry, offtopic. Always when my phone is locked, it appears on the bottom left of facebook, maps, whatsapp, etc... gray icons. after I unlock it, the respective application is not opened. Has anyone else experienced this? It's a very strange thing...ip6. I have two, on one it appears, on the other it doesn't.

  9. I have some very "bad" experiences with the Romanian militia, and that's why I'm commenting; thieves, corrupt... Including a break-in, in a private property... the "criminists" who took samples and fingerprints convinced me to give up the process. So... do I prefer to use private services?

  10. Who decides that you have committed a crime? Until a court gives the sentence, you are considered an accomplice... I knew... but maybe I'm wrong. But please, I know that the Romanian police-Militia is taking it a bit further, in short order...

  11. Get an iPhone 7. The iPhone 6 is already too old, and it's time to replace it. I'm sure you won't have this problem on the iPhone 7, at least until the iPhone 8 comes out.

  12. If you are tried in a criminal trial, you are called the "defendant", and if you are tried in a civil trial, you are called the "defendant".
The court cannot rule in the absence of evidence, for which it is necessary to have access to your data. Don't worry that the data on the file are the secrets. If you are acquitted, the data in the file is destroyed.
