GTA Chinatown Wars for iPhone/iPod Touch released today! - full review

Rockstar Games, the famous game company for PC/consoles which gave the world the arch-known series of games Grant Theft Auto released without much fanfare last night the version for iPhone / iPod Touch of the famous game GTA Chinatown Wars which is currently only available for consoles. From a graphics point of view the version for iPhone / iPod Touch it is located somewhere between the one for DS si PSP, I played for about 5 minutes and the graphics from my point of view are more than good, far above the game gangsta released Gameloft some months ago.

The screenshots don't show the real face of the game because that pixelated image you see on the right disappears once you start driving through the busy streets of Liberty City, under suspended subway lines or narrow alleys trying to escape from the police . The game also has a realtime clock that not only keeps track of the time you do the missions but also changes the city environment depending on the time of day, so once you get into the game you will very quickly feel the transition from the orange glow of the morning sun, with the street lights on at night, the graphics are really something to praise in this game.

The storyline has the main role on Huang lee, the son of a mafia boss of triad, and it looks like this: Huang is sent by father in America to take to his uncle a sword won in a poker game; of course, things never go as they should and once we get in USA, Huang, is caught in the middle of a street fight and kidnapped; after stealing his sword, the kidnappers, believing him to be dead, put him in a car that they push off the edge of a pier - and from here the actual action of the game begins, with Huang in the water and you with the first objective of finding a car to go to your uncle. The storyline is not revolutionary, but neither are any of the game storylines GTA it didn't create a big WOW among the fans.

From the point of view of control, everything is done using the buttons on the screen, on the left side you will find a mini joystick to control the movements of the staff and on the right side you will have some buttons to attack people/shoot/enter the car, etc. What I find very interesting is that at certain moments of the game you will be greeted by pop-ups that will ask you to do certain actions to advance in the game: for example, you will meet the first pop-up as soon as the game starts , having to press on the screen, in the pop-up, to break the window and get out of the sinking car; you will meet the second such pop-up when you steal the first car, you will see it there, I won't spoil the surprise.

GTA Chinatown Wars bring on iPhone / iPod Touch the complete experience from the games on PC/consoles : you have an apartment where you can let your character sleep (it is possible to save your games but the saving should be done automatically), you have a garage where you can leave your car overnight, during the game you have a  GPS with the map Liberty city that will help you get anywhere in the city without too much hassle and many, many others, I'll let you discover them yourself.

As I said, the game was launched last night without much fanfare AppStore, has 186 MB not installed, installed reaches about 500 MB. I installed it myself and in the first 5 minutes I fell in love with it, I have a feeling that I won't leave until I finish it.

For those interested, the game costs $9.99 in US AppStore and can be bought by here and €7.99 from Ro AppStore de here.
