Apple is working on a navigation system for the iPhone

Google has its own navigation system for terminals equipped with Android and, to be honest, it is a very, very good one that has practically all the functions of an application made by big companies such as TomTom, Navigon or iGo. Apple only has the Maps application in iOS, which is based on Google maps and has very few features for a smartphone like the iPhone. Recently the company published 4 announcements announcing that it wants to hire 4 software engineers and those from AppleInsider consider that these 4 new engineers will be part of a team that will develop a new navigation software for iOS.

The hires, and the mention of navigation software, could signal that Apple is gearing up to build its own personal navigation tools into the iOS mobile operating system. Apple's chief competitor in the mobile space, Google, introduced its own turn-by-turn software for Android devices over a year ago.

Looking at the situation objectively, the Maps application is quite weak and a new software with many more functions is more than necessary on iDevices. Apple knows this, Apple has been working on this new application for some time now it remains to be seen when it will decide to implement it in iOS.
