Tutorial: How to save SHSH for any iDevice using redsn0w 0.9.9 beta 1 (Windows, Mac OS X)

     Yesterday Dev Team release redsn0w 0.9.9 beta 1, the most advanced version of the program with which we jailbreak our devices. redsn0w brings a new user interface plus some very important features that eliminate the need to use third-party programs to save an SHSH or to check the SHSHs available in our terminals. Practically, the Dev Team took redsn0w to a completely different level and I can only say that I'm glad that someone from them finally thought to offer more for users.

      Returning to the tutorial, using redsn0w we can now save SHSHs for our iDevices without using TinyUmbrella, but unfortunately the Dev Team has not implemented the system in iFaith that allows saving SHSHs for any version of iOS installed in our terminal. Even so, redsn0w now becomes the useful program for everyone and the SHSHs saved by us are automatically sent to Cydia, so we will always have the possibility to reuse them to restore. To save a SHSH with redsn0w you must follow the steps below.

Step 1

Download redsn0w 0.9.9 beta 1 from here: WindowsMac OS X.

Step 2

Connect the terminal to the PC. Go to the folder where you downloaded redsn0w, right click on the executable, select Properties and from the newly opened menu go to Compatibility and tick Run this program in compatibility mode for then select Windows XP, Press Apply and then ok. After performing these steps, open redsn0w. If you do not follow the steps correctly YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SAVE the SHSHs from your terminal.

Step 3

Now you have to enter the phone in DFU MODE. First close the terminal, then press jailbreak si Next and redsn0w will show you how to enter the phone in DFU Mode.

  • hold down the power button for 3 seconds;
  • without letting go of the power button, press the Home button for 10 seconds;
  • after the 10 seconds pass, release the Power button and the phone should already be in DFU Mode.

Step 4

In redsn0w access the menu Extras, then the menu SHSH Blobs and then press the button Fetch. redsn0w will display a warning message that you can bypass by pressing the button Next.

Step 5

After pressing the button Next redsn0w will implement the exploit from limera1n and check the SHSHs available for your terminal and send the saved ones to Cydia.

Step 6

After the process is finished, you will see an image like the one below, a sign that everything went ok and your SHSHs were successfully saved and sent to Cydia.

This is the process of saving a SHSH with redsn0w, everything is simple, in a slightly more complicated way than in the case of TinyUmbrella, so it remains up to you to choose the right program to perform this operation.
