Do you remember the tweaks? SwipeSelection si SlideWriter that improved the way we use the iOS keyboard, but forced you to jailbreak? Well, an American company found a "solution to the problem" by developing an application that allows us to do everything you see in the tweaks, plus many others, but without jailbreaking. Basically tyype HD allows us to manipulate the text font using simple gestures, it allows us to move the cursor in the same way and of course it allows us to select the entire text using, you guessed it, gestures, but that's not all.
Type HD is a revolutionary gesture based text editor for iPad. Quick and natural gestures allow you to quickly move around the text and select bits of it without multiple taps required.
Some of the gestures type supports are:
- One finger pan – lets you move the cursor precisely between characters.
- Two finger pan – similar as above, but is used to highlight the text.
- Three finger pan – same as one finger, but moves the cursor twice as fast – comes in handy when you deal with large amount of text
- Pinch – scales the font size
- Two finger double tap – selects entire text
Looking at it objectively, tyype HD is a more or less perfect copy of the tweak released in Cydia a few weeks ago and although it doesn't implement the changes throughout iOS, at least you don't need a jailbreak to write quickly and easy text on iPad. tyype HD is available for €0.79, but it only works on iPad.
