Scott Forstall is the man whose Steve Jobs entrusted him with the task of designing the iOS based on which the first version of the iPhone would function, the former SVP of the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), dealing with the subsequent evolution of iOS up to the 6th version. Unfortunately, the numerous operational problems of iOS 6, but also the disappointment of users regarding the way iOS has evolved over time forced him to Tim Cook to make the decision to fire Scott Fostall, who held the position of consultant until recently, when he had to leave Apple. At the moment Forstall became consulted for various startups, invests in charitable projects around the world and there are rumors that he could open his own company.
He also advised a few startups, and became more philanthropically involved, focusing on education, poverty, and human rights. As for what's next, Efrati doesn't have any news, but he says VC firms like Kleiner Perkins and Andreessen Horowitz have stayed in touch, but Apple employees think Forstall's next move will be starting his own company.
Scott Forstall did not leave the Apple company with his pride intact, he was attacked by everyone for the way he led the teams that developed iOS over the years, and this probably marked him. However, without Forstall iOS would not have evolved so much over the years and despite his communication problems with other vice presidents, the former SVP of Apple contributed to a very large extent to the positive evolution of the American company. Having said that, it is unlikely that we will hear much more information about Forstall, but he remains an important part of Apple's history.
