Facebook makes a surprising decision regarding WhatsApp Messenger

During this week, the European antitrust bodies officially gave their agreement regarding the completion of the acquisition of the company WhatsApp Messenger by Facebook for over 22 billion dollars (3 billion more than the initial one). Although some expected that the completion of the acquisition procedure a WhatsApp Messenger by Facebook to result in the implementation of advertisements in order to monetize the text messaging platform, those from Facebook announced today that they will not act in this way in the future.

The announcement was made by Facebook's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, and he is an extremely surprising one in the context in which Facebook is used of advertising to generate most of its revenue. Even if Zuckerberg did not deny the fact that at some point Facebook will monetize WhatsApp Messenger, for now there are no short-term plans to do so, so users will only have to pay the annual subscription of €1 to use the application.
