Facebook launches the Trending section and improvements for the mobile version of Facebook.com (Video)

During this evening, the Facebook company launched a new function for smartphones and tablets that access its social network, they can now access a new section called Trending, which presents the most popular discussion statuses. The new functionalities are currently only available for Android terminals and in the coming months support for iDevices is scheduled to be implemented in order to offer the same experience on all platforms.

The feed below the new sections will continue to display relevant posts ranked by engagement, timeliness and other factors. The way that your Trending topics are determined hasn't changed, and as always, only public posts and posts that you are in the audience for (like updates from friends or groups that you belong to) will be shown in Trending.

In the Trending section, Facebook will present only those posts that it considers to be interesting, they being categorized according to user interaction, publication date and several other factors, so basically you will see random statuses. The change is currently only available to those in the US, but Facebook will offer it to all users around the globe as the changes propagate through all of its servers around the world.
