Apple is working with an Apple Watch competitor to solve an App Store problem

apple think

Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), ardently defends the products it launches on the market and in many situations chooses to prohibit the promotion of competing products through various applications of App Store. The same thing happened the other day with those from Pebble, Apple refusing to publish in the App Store an application created to be compatible with the Pebble smartwatch.

Although Apple's attitude vis-à-vis its direct competitors attracted the rejection of the publication of an application compatible with the Pebble smartwatch the other day, it seems that in Cupertino the engineers have returned to better thoughts. In this idea, those from Pebble announced that they are currently working on solving the "differences" they have and the applications for this smartwatch should be published without problems.

Still a work-in-progress, but we're working with Apple to clear up any misunderstandings to make sure rejections like the handful of recent ones don't happen again – they're being super responsive to the concerns that bubbled up (much appreciated !). Apps are still getting approved with mentions of Pebble support in the description or metadata (eg RunKeeper). For now, developers should continue with their iOS app update plans and approval submissions to the iTunes store as normal (ie include Pebble support in your app info if that was your original intent).

Despite the problems experienced by some developers of applications for the iOS platform, it seems that important applications were approved without problems, although they contained references to Pebble. The biggest problems were for the smaller developers and certainly the rejection orders came from Apple, but things seem to have been resolved now.

It was normal for Apple to ban the publication of some applications that support competing products in the App Store, and it remains just as normal to reject the publication of other applications in the future, so we can expect similar situations in the future.
