Yahoo! Mail will be disabled on some Macs, iPhones and iPads

Yahoo MacYahoo! Mail will be disabled on some Macs, iPhones and iPad tablets by the company Yahoo!, announcing today its plans to disable support for these types of Apple products. We are of course talking about old iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch or Mac models, the native Mail application will no longer be able to synchronize data via Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo Contact synchronization will also be affected.

The change will produce its effects starting from June 15 of the current year, all iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches that do not have at least iOS 5 installed will no longer be able to synchronize emails in the native application. Email synchronization would still be possible using the Yahoo! Mail from the App Store, but also accessing mail.yahoo.com will still give you the opportunity to access the email box.

In order to maintain focus on the security, speed and functionality of Yahoo Mail on the latest systems, we are no longer supporting Yahoo Mail on the built-in Mail app for devices prior to iOS 5 on June 15, 2015.

As for Macs, they must be running OS X Lion 10.7 or a newer version to be able to synchronize data from email boxes, the change not affecting the ability to access email search on the web. The changes in all cases are made with the idea of improving the security of users while accessing the email boxes or synchronizing the data available in them for them.

Similarly, to provide the best and safest experience, starting June 15, 2015, we are no longer supporting Yahoo Contacts syncing for devices prior to Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. If you use Mac OS X 10.7 Lion & earlier, you can continue to access your Yahoo Contacts through Yahoo Mail on their web browser.

Having said that, if you have not yet installed a version of iOS or OS X released in the last 2 years, it would be good to do it as soon as possible.
