A tourist tried to steal an ancient object from Pompeii to buy an iPhone

ruins of PompeiiPompei it is one of the most famous old Romanian cities, attracting an impressive number of visitors annually, and some of them think they can get rich if they sell Roman relics on the Internet.

More precisely, a young Dutch man stole a tile from the roof of an old house, intending to sell the object on the auction website eBay with the idea of purchasing, most likely, his terminal iPhone 6S which is to be launched by the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), in about a month.

The witness to the crime was an American tourist who notified the Italian authorities, who stopped the young Dutchman who was trying to leave Pompeii with the piece of tile, he was arrested for theft, but it is unlikely that he will receive more than a fine and a suspended prison sentence.

Although this type of old objects are not very valuable at auctions, an expert claims that for the right person, the piece of tile could bring the young Dutchman no less than 400 euros, but he would have had to wait a long time until he succeeded to sell that tile.

According to Italians, an American tourist witnessed the 16-year-old placing a Roman roof tile in his backpack and attempting to smuggle it out of the site currently under renovations. Police on the scene stopped the teenager before he was able to leave with the item. He reportedly later said he wanted to sell the tile on eBay to buy the latest iPhone, but experts say he would have been disappointed by the resale value.

Considering that in China some people have sold their organs to buy Apple products, this is not the most extreme act encountered so far by people eager to purchase the latest products of the American company, whether they are released or not.
