Android 6 Marshmallow runs on 0.3% of terminals

Android 6 MarshmallowAndroid 6 Marshmallow runs on 0.3% of terminals Android existing on the planet one month after the official launch by the company Google during a conference organized in San Francisco.

Although Android 6 Marshmallow is available for a very limited number of terminals at the moment, mainly only those of the Nexus series, this extremely low adoption rate demonstrates again how big the problem is for Google when it comes to updating its operating system.

iOS 9 had an adoption rate of over 50% one month after launch because Apple has implemented a smart update system for its iDevices, however Android 6 Marshmallow it remains with only 0.3% due to the fragmentation that exists in the ecosystem.

Think that Android 6 Marshmallow offers a lot of improvements for Android, but until the producers manage to offer the updates, it will take a long time and those who suffer are, of course, the end users who are forced to use old or other unofficial versions.

Android adoption rate

If you look at the image above in which we see the adoption rate of the various versions of Android you will notice that the problem of fragmentation is much bigger than it seems at first glance, most Android terminals running versions of the operating system that are older than 2 years.

4.4 Android KitKat is the most popular version of Android with 37.8% of all terminals, and Jelly Bean it is followed by 24.9% of the devices, so we are talking about over 60% of the Android terminals running a very old version of the operating system.

Android Lollipop 5 it runs on 26.6% of Android terminals, while Android Marshmallow does not increase this percentage even to 27%, the situation being downright comical, if it were not worthy of pity for Android users.

Unfortunately, the Android platform still has a lot to evolve until everyone can benefit from the latest technologies, and the current situation will not have a solution too soon.
