Here are how many Microsoft Surface tablets were sold in 2015

Microsoft Surface is the tablet developed by the company Microsoft to fight with iPad on the global markets, but so far it has not proven to be a product that is really desired by users all over the world, sales being much lower than Apple's.

In 2015, 6 million Microsoft Surface tablets were sold worldwide by the company Microsoft, much less than the iPad or Samsung tablets, those from Cupertino selling 16 million units in Q4 2015 alone.

Microsoft claims that Surface is a competitor of ultrabooks and compares it with MacBook Air, but most put it on the same level as normal iPad tablets, a comparison with iPad Pro being more correct, but we do not know how many units of this tablet have been sold in 2015, it being launched in November.

Microsoft Surface sales figures are provided by the company's partners, they are 50% higher than those expected by analysts, Microsoft stating that this tablet generated 29% higher sales in Q4 2015, without providing exact figures.

Microsoft shipped 2.5 million Surface-series tablets in the fourth quarter of 2015, leading to total shipments for the year reaching six million units, or 50% higher than market expectations of four million, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.

For 2016, analysts expect Microsoft Surface tablets to generate 30% more sales than those recorded in 2015, so up to 8 million units would be sold and only this year we will see a real comparison with the iPad Pro.
