iPhone 5se – Apple has contracted a new assembly partner

Company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), made the decision to contract Wistron for production iPhone 5se, those from Cupertino trying to reduce their dependence on Foxconn, but also the production problems generated by the existence of a single partner with this type of attributions.

According to some Asian sources, Wistron will start production of iPhone 5se in the next period and separately from it, it seems that only Foxconn will assemble the iPhone 5se, Pegatron remaining with the production of old models of the iPhone, but also of some iPad tablets.

This month the Apple company chose to contract the Compal Electronics company as one of the manufacturers of the iPad Mini tablets, Wistron having until now handled the lamination of the touch panels used in the iPhone terminals sold all over the world.

Starting this month, Wistron will also manufacture a reduced quantity of terminals iPhone 5se, Apple testing the production capacity of its new partner before giving him orders to manufacture iPhone 7 in the fall of this year.

Apple has been trying to separate its orders to different ODMs to avoid risks. In February 2015, the vendor added Compal Electronics as an iPad mini manufacturer, and Wistron to conduct iPhone touch panel lamination, and has recently outsourced a small portion of its new 4-inch iPhone orders to Wistron, looking to nurture Wistron to become an iPhone assembly house, according to some market watchers.

In the fall, Apple intends to offer those from Foxconn and Pegatron contracts for iPhone 7 production, while Wistron and Foxconn will assemble the iPhone 7 Plus, in both cases the Taiwanese from Foxconn will have most of the production.

The move made by the Apple company is logical because with three partners assembling iPhone terminals there are less chances that the stocks will be affected during the launches, but also that many defective terminals will be launched on the market.
