The FBI can now unlock almost any iPhone or iPod Touch

The other day I told you that The FBI managed to unlock the iPhone that was taken from a terrorist and for which he is fighting with Apple asking him to unlock it, their success having the effect of withdrawing the lawsuit filed to force Apple to offer him help.

The method used by the FBI to unlock this iPhone is not known, but it seems to work not only for the iPhone 5C, but also for other iPhone models, but also for some iPod Touch models that the authorities have in their possession at the time of face.

According to an American publication, the FBI has agreed to help a prosecutor in the state of Arkansas with the unlocking of an iPhone and an iPod Touch that are part of a criminal investigation of a murder that took place in the state, and the help is surprising having considering that 2 weeks ago the FBI was complaining that it did not have the necessary technique to do this.

The iPhone in this case has been in the possession of the authorities since July of last year, so it is most likely running a version of iOS 8, but the FBI claimed that it cannot even unlock this old version of the operating system, but things seem to have changed now.

The FBI agreed Wednesday to help an Arkansas prosecutor unlock an iPhone and iPod belonging to two teenagers accused of killing a couple, just days after the federal agency announced it had gained access to an iPhone linked to the gunman in a mass shooting in California.

Since the FBI managed to unlock the iPhones in its possession on its own and helps other branches of the legislative apparatus for the same purpose, it is clear that it no longer needs Apple's help to carry out its investigations.
