Apple lays off amid speculation of a disastrous fiscal year

Just one day after a respected analyst announced that 2016 will be a disastrous year for Apple, here we find out the first details regarding a series of layoffs that the Apple company has prepared for some of the employees of its divisions.

Specifically, the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), decided to fire the people who were dealing with the hiring of talented people in its divisions that develop new products, most of the employees in the recruitment division being in the process of being fired, without others taking their place in the near future.

In total, we are talking about over 100 people who will be without a job within the Apple company in the immediate following period, the action not having any motivation provided by Apple or those who provided this information for the press.

One explanation for the layoffs could be that Apple uses various recruitment firms to hire talented people and would be interested in letting go of its own people for this work, but analysts' gloomy forecasts could be a second equally plausible explanation.

Apple in the past few weeks has been cutting all of its contract recruiters. In all, more than 100 people could be affected by the moves, the source said. The company currently has no public job postings for recruiters.

Apart from the dismissal of employees, Apple also reduced the bonuses offered to those who remain, so that if until now they received a bonus of 40% of the salary of a new employee, in the future the bonus will be reduced to 10% - 15% or will be canceled completely.

Apple has hired a lot of engineers and managers recently, especially to complete the Apple car project, several thousand employees joining the Cupertino divisions in the last year, a reduction in the hiring flow being somewhat normal.
