Apple 5K Display with integrated video card is in development

In the morning I told you that Apple has discontinued the Thunderbolt Display, the only monitor that the American company sold specifically for Macs that are either not sold with a monitor, or have a small one, and their users want a larger one that they can use when they are at the office, at home, or at work.

The withdrawal of this product is not surprising, especially since it was launched 5 years ago, so it has not benefited from any update, its resolution being much lower than that of IMAC 5K, its selling price being 800 dollars lower, but this in the conditions that it does not have an integrated computer.

Although Apple will no longer sell Thunderbolt Display, the American company is still working on another monitor, probably called Apple 5K Display, which will have a integrated video card, as we were already told a few weeks ago, just a few days before WWDc 2016.

The great advantage of such a screen is that it could be used with any kind of Mac, old or new, the integrated motherboard being able to support the only 5K resolution, of 5120 x 2880 pixels, which Apple would offer, a Mac Mini, or a MacBook Air having very big problems in dealing with such a resolution alone.

It has been speculated that Apple has not released an Apple 5K Display until now because no computer could support it with a single stream cable, but with an integrated video card, but also powerful enough, it could be autonomous for to work even with computers that have integrated graphics cards.

The future Apple 5K Display would have an integrated USB-C port that would also provide support for Thunderbolt 3, so users could connect their computers to the monitor even through this standard, facilitating the transfer of data at very high speeds, a essential thing for such a high resolution.

If Apple will really launch a monitor with 5K resolution, then we can expect its selling price to be well above the value of 1000 dollars, those from Cupertino being able to argue their decision based on the technologies used for it, or very expensive components, and users will buy it anyway.

Considering that this alleged Apple 5K Display was not launched at WWDC 2016, there are sufficiently credible reasons to believe that it will be presented by Apple only in the fall, probably with new models of Macs, the launch could take place in the fourth fiscal quarter of 2016.

What do you think about the possible launch of such a monitor?
