Apple laptop sales increased in Q2 2016

Although Mac sales fell in Q2 2016, the Apple company registered anyway better sales for its laptops, up 30.3% compared to the first quarter of this year, the global market share of those from Cupertino now reaching 8.6%, almost a third of that of Lenovo, the sales leader.

In the first quarter of 2016, sales of Apple laptops were down 40% compared to the previous fiscal quarter, so Apple recovered almost all of this difference in Q2 2016, but unfortunately the company is seriously suffering when it comes to total consumer PC sales.

Based on estimates made by TrendForce, Apple would have sold 3.3 million MacBook 12 inch, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro in Q2 2016, with 800.000 units more than in the first quarter of the same year, and the increase would be due to mainly the MacBook 12 inch updates from the past months.

It seems that many consumers were interested in this improved version of the 12-inch MacBook, and if Apple had also updated the rest of the laptop line, then sales would certainly have been much higher, many consumers waiting for new models of products to make purchases.

Apple's MacBook shipments in the second quarter were up 30.3% versus the first quarter, placing the brand on the fifth spot of the half-year ranking. This shipment surge was generated by the release of an upgraded 12-inch model of the latest MacBook. TrendForce expects MacBook shipments to register sequential growth in the third and fourth quarter because Apple will also be releasing new products for both periods.

The only good thing in all of Q2 2016 on the laptop sales side is related to the fact that Apple surpassed Acer and climbed to the fifth position in the top sellers, those from Samsung being placed in the 7th position with a share of the market which represents only a third of that of the Apple company, the difference being very large.

At the moment there are discounts of up to 1400 LEI on Apple laptops in this page.
