The man who attacked an Apple store was convicted

The man who destroyed an Apple store in France was sentenced to 6 months of suspended prison and the payment of 17,548 euros.

Last month I told you like a man entered an Apple Store in the middle of the day and destroyed products displayed by those from Cupertino for testing in the store. Those from Apple estimated the damages at approximately 60.000 euros, but today the first decision was given in the lawsuit filed by the authorities against the man and the amount awarded by the judge is lower.

To begin with, I will tell you that the man was sentenced to 6 months in prison with suspension for all the destruction done in the Apple Store, he also had to pay damages of 17,548 euros. Although Apple said that the damage was great, the police failed to inspect the destroyed products, so the judge decided to award lower damages.

The judge came to the conclusion that the products displayed there by Apple were not intended for sale, so they did not have the value of a product that had to be sold on the market. In this idea, the compensations are more than 3 times lower than the amount estimated by the Apple company, but they will probably increase following the appeal made for this decision.

In order to escape a custodial sentence, the man stated that he was in a "monstrous" state of nervousness caused by the warranty problems of an Apple product. With this defense, he escaped prison, and the amount that Apple will have to pay is nowhere near as high as initially estimated.
