iPhone 8 could have flexible AMOLED screen

iPhone 8 will have a flexible AMOLED screen according to the latest information from Apple's Asian partners, the change being a radical one.

iPhone 8 it will come with great innovations from the Apple company, or at least that is what has been announced from various sources close to the American company in recent months. We have repeatedly learned that the iPhone 8 will have a new design, but now we also learn that it will not have a simple OLED screen, but a flexible AMOLED, most likely slightly curved towards the outside of the case.

Many details regarding this flexible AMOLED screen for iPhone 8 are not known, but Apple's partners are preparing to produce this component in colossal quantities. According to those from IHS, the demand for flexible AMOLED screens is going to grow by up to 135% during 2017 compared to 2016, so more than double compared to now.

The iPhone 8 is going to be one of the new smartphones that will use very large quantities of flexible AMOLED screens in 2017, the production of this type of screen will amount to 20% of the total global production. The Apple company should launch the iPhone 8 on global markets in the fall of next year, and until then the production of flexible AMOLED screens should increase seriously.

iPhone 8 could have flexible AMOLED screen

Regarding the companies from which Apple could buy flexible AMOLED screens, for now Samsung is the only one that can meet the high demand of Americans. Although those from Apple are now collaborating with Japan Display, LG Display and Sharp, none of them can produce enough screens of this kind in 2017.

"Apple is expected to launch its new iPhone using flexible AMOLED display in 2017, which would dramatically drive up expected demand for flexible AMOLED panels, IHS indicated. Flexible AMOLEDs are expected to comprise 20% of total OLED display unit shipments in 2017."

Due to the fact that Apple cannot buy enough AMOLED screens for the iPhone 8, the number of initial quantities will be very small. In this idea, Apple would like to launch including two cheaper models of iPhone 7S to offer more options to customers, because iPhone 8 will be available in smaller quantities even than iPhone 8 jet black.

Having said that, Apple is preparing for an iPhone 8 with a flexible AMOLED screen, and this tells us that we are going to have a very interesting change for the iPhone series.
