Apple has increased the limits for installing applications

The Apple company announced last night that it increased the size limit of the applications that can be downloaded from the AppStore for installation on the Apple TV 4. More precisely, when the Apple TV 4 was launched together with tvOS, the Apple company limited the size of the applications to 200 MB, the rest of the data having to be downloaded later in the application.

Starting last night, the Apple company announced that the applications for Apple TV 4 can have a maximum size of 4 GB in order to be installed in the products. In this idea, games can now be downloaded in full format from the start, instead of being downloaded segmented in Apple TV 4, but the same is true for other applications.

The change brings equality between tvOS and iOS, as the size of applications for iPhone or iPad has been set at a maximum of 4 GB for some time. It was time for an increase to be made for Apple TV 4 as well, and apart from the 4 GB of applications, developers can offer another 20 GB of resources that can be downloaded from the application, after installation.

Considering that Apple TV 4 is sold in versions with 32 GB and 64 GB of storage space, users have enough space for installing applications and downloading other content. The change is made today, but it will take time for larger applications to be published in the AppStore for regular users.

"The size limit of a tvOS app bundle has increased from 200 MB to 4 GB, so you can include more media in your submission and provide a complete, rich user experience upon installation. Also, tvOS apps can use On Demand Resources to host up to 20 GB of additional content on the App Store."
