Apple Watch - here are the sales from Q4 2016

Apple Watch recorded record sales in Q4 2016 according to the Apple company, but according to those who monitor the smartwatch market, the claims of those from Cupertino are not so real. More precisely, they claim that in Q4 2016 the Apple company sold 5.1 million Apple Watches, with 100.000 units less than last year.

Moreover, the total sales of Apple Watches for the year 2016 were 2 million units lower than those recorded during 2015. In total, those from Strategy Analytics claim that Apple Watch sales decreased both quarter, from one year to another, as well as in total, so Apple's statements are debatable without figures.

Although sales of Apple Watches fell by 100.000 units, Apple still remains the leader in a smartwatch market that recorded an increase in sales of 300.000 units compared to 2015. Samsung's sales fell by almost half of Q4 2015, the decrease for the whole year being 300.000 units, i.e. approximately 15% compared to last year.

Although Apple and Samsung recorded lower sales for smartwatches in 2016, the rest of the manufacturers recorded a spectacular increase of 2.6 million units, which is 3 times higher than all of Samsung's sales. In this idea, Apple has a market share of 63%, Samsung 16%, and the rest of the manufacturers 21%.
