Digi Mobil will impose Roaming Surcharges

Digi Mobil today he received the agreement from ANCOM to impose roaming charges for customers who want to use their subscription benefits abroad. ANCOM made the announcement together with a series of specifications for Digi Mobil customers, who will be forced to pay more surcharges to use the operator's services beyond the borders of our country.

ANCOM claims that Digi Mobil's decision to apply roaming surcharges for customers is based on the operator's need to recover the costs of providing services and maintain services in Romania at a low cost. We are talking about several roaming surcharges that Digi Mobil can apply to customers who will use its mobile phone services in the European Economic Area.

Surcharges may be imposed by Digi Mobil starting on June 30 for all customers who use roaming services in the EEA, they being valid for 12 months. Considering that Digi Mobil's prepaid cards do not allow the use of services in roaming, only customers who have subscriptions will be affected by these new surcharges.

Digi Mobil - how much do roaming surcharges cost?

According to ANCOM, the following roaming surcharges may be imposed by Digi Mobil for subscribers who use roaming services in the EEA

  1. 0,031 Euro/minute, for calls made;
  2. 0,0108 Euro/minute, for received calls;
  3. 6,37 Euro/GB (0,00637 Euro/MB), for data consumption between 30 June and 31 December 2017, respectively 4,9 Euro/GB (0,0049 Euro/MB), for data consumption between January 1 – June 30, 2018.

In the case of calls made while roaming in the EEA, Digi Mobil subscribers will only pay the surcharge from the first minute, but within the limit of the national minutes included. More precisely, Digi Mobil subscribers will pay the price for making phone calls without the mobile phone network, plus the surcharge, after the national minutes included in the mobile phone subscription have been used up.

digi mobile roaming surcharges

For calls received in roaming by Digi Mobil subscribers, only the surcharge will be paid from the first minute and nothing more. In the case of mobile internet, Digi Mobil customers will only pay the surcharge from the very first MB of data consumed, so practically they will not have any MB of the subscription available in roaming, but will pay directly for everything they will consume in the EEA space.

ANCOM claims that although Digi Mobil will apply surcharges, the prices for calls made will be 38% lower than before June 15, and for data 87% lower. Basically, Digi Mobil needs money to survive, so all those with 2 euro subscriptions will have to pay 3 times more for GB of roaming internet, so they will not use roaming internet.
