iPhone X - The importance of the "Ears" of the Screen

iPhone X has new functions implemented in the "ear" of the OLED screen cut out in the upper part, these controlling some functions of iOS 11 on the phone.

iPhone X has a new OLED screen implemented by the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),, this having a cutout in the upper part to allow the inclusion of a TrueDepth camera for facial recognition with Face ID. This cutout left two portions of the screen that surround it and display information for users, but iPhone X customers will be able to interact with them to see various types of content and more.

iPhone X will display in these regions of the screen information about the time, GSM signal strength, Wi-Fi signal strength, Bluetooth connectivity, or available battery power. More than that, the iPhone X will also display there the status of the battery charge, or information about the use of GPS, that is, everything that we saw until now in the status bar of a normal iPhone is crammed into these two portions.

iPhone X has these two pieces of screen called "ears" by Apple employees, and they are the basis of two more important functions of the operating system. The first of them refers to the Control Center, its activation is done by swiping from top to bottom in the right ear of the screen, the Control Center interface being displayed on the entire screen, as it normally happens now.

iPhone X - the importance of the "ears" of the 5.8 inch OLED screen

iPhone X will require a swipe gesture in the left "ear" to activate the Notifications Center, so we will not be able to access this interface from anywhere. If until now we could access the Notifications Center by swiping from any upper part of the iPhone screen, starting with the iPhone X we will only have to use that "ear" on the left side to access it.

In this cutout, the iPhone X has the ugliest design change ever implemented in an iPhone model, it is always in front of us and spoils the applications or movies. Unfortunately, those from Apple failed to implement the TrueDepth camera for iPhone X differently, so we will have to accept this cutout in the screen because if we want to use the new phone, there is no other solution.

iPhone X might be the best mobile phone ever made by the Apple company for its customers, but it is definitely not the most beautiful of them. The OLED screen of the iPhone X is imposing, it dominates the entire front panel of the device, but that cutout at the top spoils a very elegant and beautiful design that could have turned the iPhone X into the most beautiful phone in the world in 2017.
