iPhone X had amazing sales in the first months of availability, Kantar analysts announcing that Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), has maximized as much interest as possible vis-à-vis its phones in the past months. Although iPhone X was available in limited quantities in the first 2 months of availability, the Apple company still managed to register very good sales in several important countries, attracting some Android fans.
The countries in which the iPhone X had amazing sales are not specified, but there are probably not too many, Apple's main markets being most likely the ones Kantar is referring to. Despite this, they are still talking about China, where the iPhone X was the best-selling smartphone in the urban environment and attracted many Huawei, Xiaomi, or even Samsung users.

The iPhone X had a market share of 6% in the urban area of China, that is, where people have money for it, but in the rural area, sales were not so good, the high price keeping people away from the phone. The interesting part, however, lies in the fact that Apple managed to convince Chinese users of Huawei, Xiaomi and Samsung to abandon these traditional manufacturers in order to buy a very expensive iPhone X.
"Apple was riding on the back of some momentum before the iPhone X release, but demand for the latest model in urban China has been staggering given its price point. Apple is now back on form – the iPhone X was the top selling model in urban China in November, with a market share of 6.0%. Unlike in Europe and the US, where the vast majority of new early iPhone X sales came from existing Apple smartphone owners, in urban China there are significant numbers of Huawei, Xiaomi and Samsung customers switching to the new iPhone models."
iPhone X is a real hit among Apple fans, and some fans of the Android platform, the very high price not having any significant impact on the total sales of the Apple company's phones. To be completely honest, I was expecting some more gloomy forecasts from Kantar regarding iPhone X sales, but unlike other analysts, they believe that Apple sold a lot.
I think the iPhone X still has a lot to say and I think we will see more high sales estimates for the phone in 2018 as well.
