iPhone X is considered to be the main growth engine for iOS market share in Q4 2017, with Gartner publishing today the figures for smartphone sales in this period. According to analysts, iPhone X was in the top 3 best-selling "devices" during this period, being the best-selling "device" in China in the last 3 months.

The market share of iOS increased by 2.5% in Germany, decreased by 2.4% in Great Britain, by 0.4% in France and 0.7% in Italy, increasing by 0.5% in Spain in Q4 2017. In the USA, the market share decreased by 0.5%, while in China it grew by 10.1%, Australia registering a growth of 1.2%, while Japan one of only 0.5%, in total iOS is growing.

Extremely impressive is the growth of iOS in China, where the 10.1 percent was stolen directly from Android, this country recording the biggest percentage loss for Google's operating system. Q4 2017 was apparently a very good fiscal quarter for iOS, and this means that iPhone sales were higher than in Q4 2016, with the iPhone X being credited for this development.

"The flagship iPhone X made it into the top three best-selling devices in the month of December across Europe, Urban China, Japan, Australia and the United States. he full results for the last quarter of the year show that Apple's decision to release three new handsets over a staggered period, including the ultra high-end iPhone X, has been a sound one."

Kantar does not say how many million units of the iPhone X would have been sold during this period, those from Canalys stating that the sales would have amounted to 29 million units. Kantar doesn't say what positions the iPhone X had in the top smartphone sales separately from China, so we can't believe that it was the best-selling smartphone everywhere, as Canalys suggested.
