Facebook, the largest social network on the planet, is owned by a company whose sole and exclusive interest is to produce as much profit as possible on the backs of its users. In this idea, apart from all the methods of extorting money from publishers behind the users' backs, Facebook also recommends the installation of a software in phones that spies on everything we access from our phones in everyday life.

Facebook has in its own application a special section called Protect, it being created to recommend the installation of a special software to protect users when surfing the Internet. That software is the Onavo application, bought a few years ago by Facebook, offering a free VPN service for users that secures all their internet connections when they use their phones to surf the web and more.

Onavo, since it was bought by Facebook, is used to analyze the usage data of the VPN network in order to improve the services and products of the Facebook company, thus spying on users. Facebook even admits that the Onavo application was transformed from one to protect the privacy of users into one of spyware, all traffic through the VPN network being monitored by the Facebook company, without restrictions.

To provide this layer of protection, Onavo uses a VPN to establish a secure connection to direct all of your network communications through Onavo's servers. As part of this process, Onavo collects your mobile data traffic. This helps us improve and operate the Onavo service by analyzing your use of websites, apps and data. Because we're part of Facebook, we also use this information to improve Facebook products and services, gain insights into the products and services people value, and build better experiences.

Facebook has convinced about 33 million people to use Onavo monthly, all these people having all their interactions on the internet monitored by the American company, most likely without them knowing. Of course, for Facebook an application of this kind is excellent, because it offers free information on the use of websites, applications and web services, but for the average user these services are not good.
