Last night I told you that Apple's HomePod smart speaker has a problem, to be more precise, he stains the clients' furniture with white rings that don't wipe off so easily. Apple admitted that this is an effect of using the speaker, and after a dry answer, it offered a new press statement in which it offers a more complex explanation for this problem.

Apple says it's not unusual for a speaker that has a vibration damping system to leave slight marks on some wooden surfaces, as is the case with the HomePod's white circles. Apple knew about this problem before launching the HomePod smart speaker, but of course it didn't make public information about it, customers having to be informed in advance.

Apple says that those white rings could be the result of friction between the silicone base of the HomePod and the surface on which they are placed, they should disappear a few days after moving the speaker from that place. Otherwise, Apple recommends drying the furniture with a wet or dry textile material, or with cleaning substances recommended by the manufacturer of the furniture item.

"HomePod is designed for indoor use only. When using HomePod, make sure to place it on a solid surface. Place the power cord so that it won't be walked on or pinched. It is not unusual for any speaker with a vibration-damping silicone base to leave mild marks when placed on some wooden surfaces. The marks can be caused by oils diffusing between the silicone base and the table surface, and will often go away after several days when the speaker is removed from the wooden surface. If not, wiping the surface gently with a soft damp or dry cloth may remove the marks. If marks persist, clean the surface with the furniture manufacturer's recommended cleaning process. If you're concerned about this, we recommend placing your HomePod on a different surface."

HomePod is not the only electrical product with which we see problems of this kind, but depending on the duration of placement on the wooden surface, the stains can be completely or partially erased. In this idea, if you buy a HomePod speaker, you must be aware of the fact that the surface on which you place the product could be stained by the silicone base of the Apple product.
