Apple Stores some iCloud Data in Google Servers

Apple confirms that it stores some iCloud data in Google's servers, but this is not the only competitor that collaborates with Apple.

Apple Data iCloud Google Servers

Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), confirmed during the day that some of the encrypted data of iCloud are stored in the cloud infrastructure of those from Google, but the competing company would not have access to them. Apple claims that it does not store in Google's servers information that identifies users who use its iDevices/Macs and iCloud services, but I think only Google knows this for sure.

Apple confirmed the fact that it stores data in Google's servers through a support document in which it talks about the information that is stored in third-party cloud services. Amazon is another company whose cloud services are used by Apple, and at one point it was also confirmed that Microsoft would be among those that sell services to Apple.

The use of Google's cloud platform is still an interesting revelation, especially if we look at the rivalry between the two companies, an extremely important aspect. Google has a very well thought out cloud platform with many servers globally, something that Apple would also like to create, but for now it cannot.

"The encrypted chunks of the file are stored, without any user-identifying information, using third-party storage services, such as S3 and Google Cloud Platform. "

Apple has data centers in the US and is building others in Europe or China, but it is far from having everything that its competitors currently have. The Apple company still wants to get rid of its dependence on Google, Amazon, or Microsoft, and with enough money invested, it could create a very strong international CDN infrastructure.
