Facebook announced last night the launch of the most important function of the last year, the American company making major changes following the Cambridge Analytica scandal, which cost it the trust of a large number of users. Trying to win back some of the lost users, the Facebook company announced last night the launch of a function that shows users information on posts made by various pages of large or small publications.

Facebook has implemented this functionality for now in the US, but it will be expanded globally for sure, a new button called About this Post appearing for posts in users' News Feeds. By pressing this button, Facebook users will see additional information about the page that published that post, so people will know if they should trust it and share the information further with their friends, or if they should ignore it.

Facebook about this post

Facebook will tell users who has shared that post from different areas of the country, it will tell them if the publication that posted that news has a page created on wikipedia and a list of other posts published by that page. Facebook implements this functionality to help users figure out if the information comes from a reliable publication, or from one that shares false information, something very important for 2018.

"We're making it easy for people to view context about an article, including the publisher's Wikipedia entry, related articles on the same topic, information about how many times the article has been shared on Facebook, where [it has] been shared, as well as an option to follow the publisher's page."

Facebook tries to give people as much information as possible about a certain publication to help them understand if they should trust what it says and if they should share its information further. These changes are part of Facebook's initiative to solve the problem of fake news, but of course more is needed to eliminate at least partially, because it is impossible to do it completely, from the platform fake news.
