App Store has celebrated 10 years of existence today, the Apple company publishing since last week a variety of information regarding the evolution of the online store. Those from Apple launched the App Store in 2008 to give iDevice users the opportunity to install any kind of applications in the iPhone to expand its functionality.
The App Store initially launched with 500 applications from a variety of developers, the vast majority of them being available exclusively in the US, many of which are still being offered. Currently, the App Store has over 2 million applications available, but the vast majority do not generate downloads because they are very difficult for users to discover.

The App Store also generated total revenues of 130 billion dollars during this period, the vast majority in recent years, 100 billion dollars reaching application developers. The App Store is currently offered in several dozen countries around the globe, offering the possibility of purchasing applications in a variety of currencies from the respective countries around the globe.
The App Store generates 500 million visits per week from the 1 billion active iDevices worldwide, so half of them access the store every week. The App Store is no longer the largest application store, it no longer generates the largest downloads, but it remains the one that generates the most money for developers.
