Apple Hires Many Tesla Engineers

Apple has hired many Tesla engineers in the last year and a half, the company wanting to use their experience for future important products.

Apple Hires Tesla Engineers

Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), employed a very high number of engineers in 2018 Tesla, the American company being very interested in the expertise they have, although no one knows clearly why. According to the information that has appeared so far, at least 46 Tesla engineers arrived at Apple in 2018 alone, but the number would be 100 if we include 2017 as well, and there are still 4 months left before the end of this year.

Although most would think that all these engineers would work within the Apple project to develop an electric and intelligent car, it seems that not all of them are headed there. It seems that many engineers are working on the development of screens, batteries, or optical systems, Apple having big and diversified plans regarding the products it wants to launch.

According to some of the engineers who worked at Tesla, it seems that the hiring of Doug Field at Apple caused a decrease in morale within the car manufacturing company. Apart from that, it seems that many left before him out of simple dissatisfaction with the way Tesla is run, and not all of them ended up at Apple.

"In 2018 so far, LinkedIn data shows Apple has hired at least 46 people who worked at Tesla directly before joining the consumer electronics juggernaut. Eight of these were engineering interns. This year Apple has also hired former Tesla Autopilot, QA, Powertrain, mechanical design and firmware engineers, and several global supply chain managers. Some employees joined directly from Tesla, while others had been dismissed or laid off before joining Apple."

Tesla, of course, denied that its employees are leaving angry because of the working conditions within the company, and said that it has 100 times less money than Apple, so it cannot offer as competitive salary packages. Tesla is the largest producer of electric and autonomous vehicles, and until now it has managed to survive even though it has always been at a loss, but without talented engineers it will not last long.
