Google: BIG PROBLEMS with Android Security

Google has big problems with Android security, the American company failing to offer better protection than the existing third-party antivirus solutions in the Play Store.

Google PROBLEMS Android security

Google is one of the companies that offers antivirus systems for the operating system Android, and here we are talking about a system that works outside of Google Play, and is meant to protect users against malware. Those at Google check the applications for Android before publishing them in Google Play, but they cannot detect any kind of malware, just as Apple cannot detect all the problems of the applications in the App Store.

Through the Play Protect system, Google offers a kind of barrier against malware that can be integrated into applications for Android phones, but it is much lower compared to what other antivirus solutions offer. A recent test by AV-Test to see how effective the Play Protect system is at detecting malware for Android revealed that the detection rate of the latest malware versions discovered in the last month is half the average the other systems.

Google offers much better protection for detecting new types of malware in real time, but Play Protect is inferior in protecting Android for old ones, a situation that should not surprise anyone. Google tries to protect Android, but it is not an antivirus company, so it cannot offer software as good as other companies that earn their existence from such applications for computers or smartphones.

"Even malware apps that are only a few days old constitute a significant risk to Android devices. One of the essential reasons for this, for example, can be the lack of timely updates for security apps. In the Android lab, these circumstances are taken into account in a relevant test. The system deploys several thousand malware apps, enabling the measurement of the products' detection capability for malware that has already been in circulation for up to four weeks."

Google allows the existence of antivirus applications for Android in Google Play precisely because it cannot protect users from any kind of malware, unlike Apple, which does not have the same strategy. Google is constantly trying to improve its security systems for Android, and although it is not currently a leading solution in terms of Android malware protection, it will probably improve its software in the future.
