Google is always looking for the best solutions to provide increased security for users who use its services, and a company engineer recently revealed what is needed to make the Internet safer. More precisely, an engineer who works on development Google Chrome revealed that in order to make the internet safer it might be necessary for website addresses to disappear, to be transformed into something that Google can present as secure.
Google claims that the url addresses of the websites should disappear and be replaced with something that better represents the identity of the internet page that the users are going to access. Google could decide that web addresses are completely removed from the address bar of Google Chrome, and replaced with the name of the website, or with other information that tells users more clearly if they are on a trusted page, or on one with false information.

Google at one point tested the replacement of url addresses with the domain name in the address bar of Google Chrome, this happened in 2014, and that experiment was stopped after a very short time. The statements of the Google engineer come just a few days after a computer security researcher managed to reveal the real addresses of some Tor websites, so the idea of presenting a website's identity more clearly is very important.
"So we want to move towards a place where web identity is understandable by everyone — they know who they're talking to when they're using a website and they can reason about whether they can trust them. But this will mean big changes in how and when Chrome displays URLs. We want to challenge how URLs should be displayed and question it as we're figuring out the right way to convey identity."
Google currently has no idea how urls will evolve in the future, but it is clear that there is a great desire on the part of the company to provide people with a safer experience when browsing the web. Considering that within Google there is an interest in making the Internet safer and implementing technologies to replace the url addresses of websites, it is quite clear that this change will be made in the future.
