eMAG is at the center of a scandal that also involves the customers of the online store in Romania, here is the warning that was launched, including by CERT.ro.

emag gift box 359199

eMAG is at the center of a new scam that has appeared on the Romanian market, a company called Alfa Mind Group being at the center of an apparent scandal that targets the customers of the largest online store in Romania. Basically, this company contacts customers of eMAG and asks them to confirm their personal data by phone, apparently having all their existing data, only asking people to confirm that they are real, and promising them that they will be given a gift .

"ATTENTION, the Alfa Mind Group company is running a campaign through which it claims to offer certain gift packages "in partnership with eMAG". This campaign has nothing to do with eMAG and we recommend that you do not provide your personal data for package delivery.”

eMAG is not part of this group, but the Alfa Mind Group company claims that "in collaboration with Alfa Mind Group" it offers gifts to the contacted persons, they only have to pay the value of the transport costs for the parcels. Those from eMAG say that they are not involved in this campaign carried out by Alfa Mind Group, and that the personal data of the customers would not have been accessed by this company, although the people contacted say that the data transmitted by phone are the real ones.

TEAPA with eMAG, CERT WARNING for Romanians

eMAG is not the only company targeted, those from Flanco being in the same situation, and in some cases it would seem that some of the customers willingly offer their personal data for the respective "gifts", which still cost about 30 LEI. Self-gifts have a derisory value, according to one of those who received them, and those from eMAG claim that people should not give or confirm their personal data to the Alfa Mind Group company, nor accept any package from she.

"The eMAG company is facing a new #scam attempt these days. Their customers are contacted to receive certain gift packages, a campaign that would be carried out "in collaboration with eMag". In reality it is not like that, users end up giving their personal data and paying courier fees for the "gifted" products. Full details in the alert published by the company. Do not hesitate to contact eMAG, if you are among the people who are called on this topic!”

eMAG is targeted by a campaign that has never been carried out in Romania in such a way, an unknown company collecting the personal data of a very large number of customers, who are now wondering if their data is completely safe or not. Although I find it hard to believe that eMAG's databases have been compromised, anything is possible, and I would not trust that if this had happened, it would have been confirmed, considering that not many companies older ones didn't do things like this.
