Orange Displays Mobile Internet Speeds for EVERY Locality

Starting today, Orange lists the mobile internet speeds for each locality where it offers mobile telephony services, here's how you can see them now.

Orange starting today has a new map with GSM coverage for Romania, and according to the company's CEO, Liudmila Climoc, each locality has displayed the theoretical mobile internet speed that can be reached by customers. You probably know that on the Orange website there is a map showing the operator's GSM coverage for all of Romania, well until now only the types of coverage for each locality were listed there, i.e. 2G/3G/4G/4G+.

Orange now lists, separately from the type of coverage, including the theoretical mobile internet speed that customers can achieve when they use their services, something that I think can turn out to be an excellent idea. However, those from Orange present in the coverage map the speeds that can be reached "under laboratory conditions, by using terminal equipment and access lines of the latest generation", so the real speeds will be lower than what you see there.

Orange lists Bucharest as having a 4G+ network that can offer Internet browsing speeds of up to 400 Mbps, but even with the iPhone XS Max, which theoretically can reach higher speeds, I didn't exceed about 120 Mbps. The difference between reality and theoretical speeds is large, it is possible that some terminals reach speeds even higher than 200 Mbps when the network is empty, but the people from Orange do not talk about real speeds, but only theoretical ones, just like the rest.

However, Orange is not the first operator to list the mobile internet speeds that customers can get in various localities, those from Vodafone already have a coverage map on their website that offers similar information. Telekom has not yet reached as far, and those from Digi Mobil still have a long time to "discover the fire", so if you are an Orange customer, you can find out approximately what internet speed you should have in the location where you will learn, or live.
