RCS & RDS. Telekom, Orange, Vodafone, the customers are targeted by an extremely important warning that is made by the authorities in Romania, and although it is not the first time it comes, it is highly recommended that you listen to it. More precisely, the authorities from ANCOM come with a new warning for Romanians who are clients of RCS & RDS, but not only, regarding the accidental roaming that they can do when they are near the borders of Romania.
RCS & RDS. This is not the first warning that ANCOM makes for Romanian clients who live in border areas, or are passing through such an area at one time or another. Considering the way mobile networks or telephones work, it is possible that some customers of RCS & RDS, or of other operators, connect without wanting to to the mobile networks of the neighboring country, and generate roaming costs unwanted, very large.

RCS & RDS. If the connection is made to a network from the European Union, then nothing else would happen, and this is because there is "roam like at home" and the benefits are consumed from the monthly allowance in Romania. If the connection is made to the telephone network of other countries, i.e. Serbia, Moldova, or Ukraine, then the clients of RCS & RDS, or of other telecom companies, will have very high additional costs for the generated consumption.
We periodically monitor the localities and roads located at the country's borders where there is a risk of involuntary roaming and publish the list of localities. Our objective is for users traveling in border areas to be warned of this risk and to know the methods by which they can avoid connecting to the networks of the operators of neighboring states and thereby the additional costs. It should be noted that, if their phone is set to automatically connect to the network, users roaming involuntarily will remain captive in the network of the neighboring state while the terminal receives a signal from the respective operator's network, even if there is a signal from the national operator at who is subscribed. To avoid such situations, we recommend disabling the automatic network selection option and manually selecting the network in areas near borders.
RCS & RDS. Whether it's internet traffic, phone calls, or SMS, customers can generate very high costs in subscriptions for accidental roaming traffic, and proving the mistake is not easy to do. In order to get rid of a large bill, the customer must prove that it was not the respective state, and so maybe RCS & RDS, or another operator, will cancel the roaming costs, but the procedure is difficult and long.
RCS & RDS. Having said that, when you are in a border area of Romania, be very careful, because it is possible to generate quite high roaming costs without really wanting it.
