UBER: STARTED SUSPENDING CUSTOMER ACCOUNTS, HERE'S WHY

UBER started to suspend the accounts of customers and drivers, this is what forced the American company to take such a radical decision at the beginning of February.

UBER account suspension

UBER began to suspend customer accounts without any prior warning, the American company taking this decision in an attempt to combat the spread of the Coronavirus in various countries around the globe. UBER takes this decision, apparently, following an analysis on the basis of which it determines which people have come into contact with others determined to be carriers of the Coronavirus, so that it automatically suspends their accounts, blocking their ability to start rides.

UBER has already suspended 240 accounts of customers in Mexico due to fears that they may belong to people who have the Coronavirus, including two drivers having the same measure applied against them. UBER has suspended the accounts of Mexicans even though no case of Coronavirus has been officially confirmed in the country, 9 suspicious people being investigated by the authorities without confirming that they are carriers of the dangerous virus that has taken over China.

UBER: STARTED SUSPENDING CUSTOMER ACCOUNTS, HERE'S WHY

UBER wants to suspend including the accounts of those in Australia after 12 cases of Coronavirus have already been confirmed there, so every kind of measure is being tried to prevent further spread. UBER will make the decisions based on the official information from the authorities, and only for certain areas where the infections with the Coronavirus have been confirmed in multiple people, so it will not make the suspensions even in a discretionary way.

“In Mexico, for example, Uber suspended the accounts of 240 riders it said had used one of two Uber vehicles carrying someone suspected of having the virus. The two Uber drivers who have been transporting the person in recent days are believed to have been told to stop working."

UBER these measures have been criticized by those in Australia, who say that in the case of drivers the company does not offer enough protection, which is quite true in the end. However, the decision to suspend the accounts of passengers and drivers who may be sick is a good idea that helps prevent the uncontrolled spread of the Coronavirus among UBER customers, but also of drivers, but it is clear why not everyone is happy with such a decision.

UBER can take similar measures in other countries where the Coronavirus has infected a large number of people, so we could also see similar measures in Europe if Germany, France, Great Britain, or other countries confirm large numbers of illnesses.
