GMAIL: ATTENTION, Very Serious Problem Affecting People

GMAIL is by far the most popular email platform at the moment, over 1 billion people use it every day to be able to communicate with various people, but unfortunately it seems that there is also a very serious problem, but not with the platform itself.

GMAIL is the target of an attack targeting Firefox users, an extension called FriarFox being created to steal users' browsing data, but also to spy on their emails that come through the email platform regardless of when they are received .

GMAIL is targeted by this initial attack by an alleged group that uses software of this kind for specific targets, some experts in cyber security stating that it would have been supported by the Chinese state, but of course everything is just an assumption.

"The introduction of the FriarFox browser extension to the TA413 arsenal further diversifies a varied, though technically limited, repertoire of tools. The use of browser extensions to target users' private Gmail accounts, combined with the delivery of Scanbox malware, demonstrates TA413's malleability when targeting dissident communities.

The hackers seem to be targeting users who use a Firefox browser and use Gmail in that browser. The user must access the URL from a Firefox browser to receive the browser extension. Additionally, it appeared that the user must be actively logged into a Gmail account with that browser to successfully install the malicious XPI [FriarFox] file.”
