The Minister of Education is talking about new very important changes that are imposed in all classrooms of schools in Romania, they are thought to a great extent exclusively for the good of the millions of students throughout the country, and the teachers will have to adapt.
The Minister of Education says that teachers will have to radically change their way of teaching in order to use smart boards, in order to give students access to credible online resources, and everything starting from the fall of this year, when the school year should start with new smart boards.
"We have many good teachers, we have teachers who have many good parts, which must be preserved, but the others must be developed as well. I would like us all to understand the difference between education centered on knowledge and education centered on competences. I would like him to be able to benefit from training in this regard.
This training was somehow thought of as being imposed by the transformations in Romanian schools. I give as an example the 10.000 science, technology and mathematics laboratories. I give as an example the 1.100 smart labs, and more importantly, the most important thing, which is very dear to me, the replacement of the classic blackboard with chalk and sponge with an interactive blackboard in all over 80.000 classrooms.
So the teacher will have to, and will understand, that the role has changed, that he must have a much stronger component of a learning facilitator, of guiding the students to those sources of information that are so many, and easily at hand, but not they are all good. The teacher's role is to guide the students in this process.
Teachers will be able to show experiments in video format on these smart boards that will be, on the one hand, much more attractive, and on the other hand, much more effective from the perspective of the skills that the student must acquire after those lessons. This means a change in the teachers' approach, which will be imposed.
When you will no longer have a classic blackboard, with chalk, and you will have an interactive blackboard, I think everyone will make an effort to adapt. Later, .... financial resources are needed, I say and repeat, for the implementation of this legislative package to make possible the transposition of the Educated Romania project into reality, according to my calculations, an annual investment of 15% of the national budget is needed."
