The Romanian Government is preparing a New Payment Request for PNRR

The Romanian government is preparing to send a new payment request for the PNRR to the European Commission, the authorities in our country intending to obtain another 3.8 billion euros in the next period based on the expenses incurred.

Prime Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă chaired today's meeting of the Interministerial Committee for the Coordination of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, which he convened for the preparation of the submission to the European Commission, in the coming days, of the second request for payment, with a submission deadline during December.

The value of this payment request amounts to 2,8 billion euros, which is added to the pre-financing of 3,7 billion euros and the first installment already collected by Romania, amounting to 2,6 billion euros.

Prime Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă analyzed in detail, together with the participants of the meeting, the status of meeting the milestones related to this payment request, requesting the coordinating ministries and institutions to give maximum priority to the completion of the 51 milestones and targets with a deadline for completion in the first two quarters of this year, associated with the second payment request.

The emphasis was placed especially on the milestones and targets considered vital for the approval of the second payment request that Romania will submit to the European Commission. Prime Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă asked for clarifications for each individual case, emphasizing the importance of accessing the funds that Romania can benefit from through the PNRR.

"We cannot afford to deviate from the commitments assumed because many elements related to the processes of reform, investments and even economic stability depend on accessing this money. We want to make sure that the second payment request will be approved by the European Commission, so that at the beginning of next year Romania will also receive this tranche of money from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan", declared Prime Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă .

During today's meeting, the stages of achievement of the 55 milestones and targets with deadlines in the III and IV quarters of 2022, to which the 3rd request for payment that Romania is going to send to the European Commission in the spring of next year.
