Why will Apple offer free Bumpers only until September 30th

During yesterday's conference, Steve Jobs a denied vehemently that the iPhone 4 would have a design problem due to which there are signal losses and preferred to blame the press that exaggerated the whole story. Although he did not expressly admit that the iPhone 4 would have problems, Apple will still offer free Bumpers to both existing and future customers, and those who have already bought a Bumper will receive their money back, but only until September 30. Why only until September 30? Well, it seems that in these 2 and a half months the company will continue to investigate the design of the iPhone 4 and in the meantime will analyze the possibility of applying a hardware "solution" for this problem, following that after September 30th it will distribute the repaired terminals.

In the meantime, it seems that they have already started to defend iPhone 4 terminals that seem to be slightly different in terms of hardware from those initially launched by Apple, moreover, they do not have any kind of signal problems. My opinion is that Apple has already solved this problem and that at the moment it has a new batch ready for launch from July 30.

What will happen on September 30? I, for one, assume that on September 30 Apple will release a modified iPhone 4, but the changes will probably not be related to the phone's antennas, but to the phone's bootrom/baseband. Until September 30, Apple will release iOS 4.1 and the Dev Team will release the new jailbreak for iPhone 4, a jailbreak that according to the Dev Team works by exploiting a vulnerability in the bootrom of the iPhone 4 terminal. Apple could modify the bootrom and thus we will have iPhone 4 "with new bootrom" which will have an identical situation with iPhone 3GS "with new bootrom", meaning more trouble for those who will buy an iPhone 4 after September 30.
